Bio

Maile Reeves is a native Hawaiian who grew up in Tucson, AZ. She began studying the violin at age 9.

As a high school senior, Ms. Reeves attended Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute where she was highly encouraged to make music her profession. She attended Boston University on scholarship, spent 2 summers at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center, and earned her Bachelor degree in Music Performance. Among her teachers were violinist and conductor, Victor Yampolsky; as well as concertmasters Emanuel Borok of the Dallas Symphony, Joseph Silverstein of the Boston Symphony; and Raphael Druian of the Cleveland Orchestra.

Upon graduating from college Ms. Reeves joined Honolulu Symphony as associate principal 2nd violin and is presently a 1st violinist with the orchestra. She has performed with such luminaries as Leonard Bernstein, The Juilliard Quartet, Yo Yo Ma, Andre Previn, Aaron Copland, Luciano Pavarotti, Marilyn Horne, John Williams, and Sarah Chang. She has also shared the stage with legendary pop stars such as Natalie Cole, Dave Brubeck, Donna Summer, Ray Charles, Burt Bacharach, Kenny G, Three Dog Night, Roberta Flack, Kenny Loggins, Smokey Robinson, and The Temptations. She has also had the opportunity to perform and record with Hawaii stars including Amy Hanaialii Gilliom, Matt Catingub, Kealii Reichel, Brudda IZ, the Makaha Sons, the Brothers Cazimero, Willie K, and Jake Shimabukuro.

Ms. Reeves is an active performing chamber and studio recording musician in Honolulu, a member of Manoa Strings Quartet, and a private violin instructor.

When she's not playing music, Ms. Reeves is a dancer and assistant instructor with theTahitian dance troop, Tunui's Royal Polynesians. Her other interests include surfing and watching Star Trek. Original episodes of course.
